Golden Girls episode-life is a lesson
The smash hit TV comedy series 'The Golden Girls' had many episodes which was further divided into seasons. Almost all the episodes remained in the top 10 slots in television ratings. Though some of the plots were similar to previous episodes yet it was the superb performance of the lead characters that infused energy and vivacity in the episodes. However the show had its share of controversy. This was because of the characters. All the four characters were older women who were single too. They were sexually active and they lived together. Moreover they were also inclined towards the pop culture. These were enough to make Golden Girls a controversial TV series amongst the orthodox viewers but it had its share of appreciation as well. The dialogues had mild sexual undertones though they were not that offensive because the element of humour downplayed the same. For instance the character of Sophia is a classic example whose straight answers often gave Dorothy, her daughter, uncomfortable moments.
In one of the episodes of season 5 which was titled 'Sick and tired', the frustration demonstrated by Dorothy is worth watching. In that episode Dorothy is shown to be suffering from fatigue and lethargy. So much so that she is compelled to call on doctors. However her frustration gets worse when none of the doctors could actually diagnose her problem properly. They tell her that there is nothing to worry about. The humour of this episode revolves round her frustration of not getting the right answer to her illness.
The same season had two other notable episodes- 'Dancing in the dark' and 'Clinton Avenue Memoirs'. In the episode 'Dancing in the dark' we get to see the look of utter helplessness on Rose's face. This happens because she cannot adjust with her boyfriend's pals as they happen to college professors who are highly intellectual. There are some really funny moments in this episode. The 'Clinton Avenue Memoirs' episode deals with Dorothy's anxiety as her mother Sophia becomes more and more forgetful. In an attempt to refresh her memory, Dorothy takes her to Brooklyn, to their old apartment.
