Golden Girls show-raise the curtains again

It all started on 14th September 1985 when an all American situational comedy series 'The Golden Girls' was aired for the first time on television by NBC. It became an instant success. It was aired every Saturday night at prime time. The show was all about four single sexually active older women and how they went about their lives. They lived as roommates sharing an apartment in Miami. The highlight of the Golden Girls show was humour laced with sexual undertones. The episodes of this show discussed topics related to human emotion and experiences.

This charming all girls show had lovable characters that could instantly connect with viewers. Every actor had an important part and they performed in a 'make believe' way. Even after so many years Golden Girls is still viewed by people with appreciation. All the characters from Dorothy to Sophia to Rose to Blanche stood out in their memorable roles. It's true that they could never create this magic again in their future ventures after Golden Girls. It was as if the show and the characters were made for each other.

The Golden Girls show was indeed a once in a lifetime experience for viewers and it was so hilarious that the effect remained for years. Almost all the episodes started and ended on a humorous note though there were a few exceptions like the episode titled 'The Operation' where one of the actors Dorothy becomes inspirational and changes her outlook towards life.

'The Engagement' was the first episode of the Golden Girls show and it was aired on 14th September 1985. The curtains came down on this immensely popular comedy series on May 9 1992. The actors who played the lead roles of four older women were Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty. The Golden Girls show was produced by Touchstone Television and distributed by Buena Vista Television.

The Golden Girls show won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series along with many other awards. The leading ladies too had their share of fame when each of them won an Emmy Award during their tryst with this show.
