The unforgettable TV series, Golden Girls TV
series
The Golden Girls TV series is a
famous American sitcom that was first aired on NBC. It stars Betty
White, Rue McClanahan, Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty, and was aired
from September 14th 1985 to May 9th 1992.
The concept of The Golden Girls TV
series was conceived by NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff while its
production was handled by Susan Harris. It was while Tartikoff was
visiting his elderly aunt that he had noticed how well his elderly
aunt and her next-door neighbor, and best friend, interacted with
each other.
The inspiration for the TV show
He had then learnt that these two
women were the best of friends although they had constant arguments
and were always bickering with each other. The love and fun they
shared with each other gave Tartikoff the inspiration for creating
the fabulous TV series, The Golden Girls TV series.
He had chosen Touchstone Television
for the production of the series while its distribution was handled
by Buena Vista Television. At present, the TV series is aired on
Hallmark Channel and WE TV.
The series has managed to win
several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding
Comedy Series twice. In addition to this, all the four actresses of
the series managed to win a minimum of one Emmy Award throughout the
series.
The concept of the TV series
Basically, The Golden Girls TV
series centers on four elderly women considered to be four favorite
grandmas. They share a single house in Miami, Florida and spend their
golden years in each other's company.
Golden Girls TV series was loved by
everyone mainly because of their bickering, arguing and irreverence
and because of the love each woman has for the other. Though they
were always fighting away, The Golden Girls were golden grannies who
loved each other and lived for each other.
In a nutshell, it was Rose's
naivety, Dorothy's wit, Sophia's sarcasm and Blanche's sensuality
that made The Golden Girls TV series a show that was loved by
everyone. Even today, many people's hearts break and lighten after
watching a few episodes of The Golden Girls TV series.
